We always hope that when trials come we will be strong and courageous and face them with the joy of the Lord. We never want to forget how blessed we are and let our circumstances dictate how we act or feel. Unfortunately, as of late, I have been "that person"- the one who just couldn't seem to get past the circumstances. I would remind myself of God's goodness and all the ways He has blessed me; I felt like an ungrateful child (which is exactly what I was). But the Lord is good. His Word tells us so. This is what He showed me today.
On Wednesdays at Camp Tejas is D-ship day. I did not really want to go today- I was in a spectacular mood and quite frankly would have been content to hole up somewhere and cry. But, I know I need the fellowship and a good dose of His word so Benjamin and I head up to the dining hall. We were studying Psalm 92 and verse 4 really struck me. I read the NASB but today we read part of it in the New Living Translation. I am not always a fan of this translation, but today it got through my head in a way my Bible just hadn't been. This is what it says:
"You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me!
I sing for joy because of what you have done."
The NASB mentions praise and being happy, but something about being thrilled by the Lord and singing for joy really captured the emotion I desire to have towards Him. It is hard to admit that I don't always feel this way, but I do sing for joy for the work He has done and continues to do in me!
One final thought to wrap this all up: praising Him is directly linked to my satisfaction in Him. This song has been in my head all day and I wanted to share the lyrics with you!
Praise you in the morning
Praise you in the evening
Praise you when I'm young and when I'm old
Praise you when I'm laughing
Praise you when I'm grieving
Praise you every season of my soul
If we could see how much your worth
Your power your might your endless love
Then surely we would never cease to praise you
Praise you with the heavens,
Joining with the angels
Praising you forever and a day
Praise you on the earth now,
Joining with creation
Calling all the nations to your praise
If they could see how much your worth
Your power your might your endless love
Then surely they would never cease to praise you
Thanks for your honesty Jules :) It's amazing to me how the Lord always seems to say exactly what you need to hear at exactly the right moment in time through exactly the right person. I hope you have a better day today!
